Wearable tech is gaining popularity day by day. Technologies such as Google Glass and Smartwatches have started to gain the attention of many large Manufacturers. After launch of The Samsung Galaxy Gear and Sony’s Smartwatch Smartwatches are becoming more and more common. Here we will take a look at the latest Smartwatches and see how they are doing.
Pebble Watch
The Pebble Smartwatch was one of the first Smartwatches. It is Water-Resistant up to 5 ATM. And can connect to both Android and iOS. If not paired with a phone it can still tell the time. But has very little Battery Life and very few Apps. The Company has promised many new Apps (Cycling, Running, Multiple Watchfaces,Golf Rangefinder) but those Apps aren’t largely here yet. The Pebble has is a cheaper device as compared to other Smartwatches. But until it can fin better Apps its still a Smartwatch in Progress.
Martian Passport Watch
The Martian Smartwatch has an analog Watch face and can Only Connect to iOs. It has a decent Battery Life and can handle Basic Call and Siri Requests. But is way too expensive as of its competition. It costs 300$ which is nearly double of other Smartwatches. Moreover it is not Water Resistant and does not support Android. The speaker is also hard to use in noisy environments.
Sony Smartwatch
The Sony Smartwatch draws the eye with its sleek, stylish looks. It also offers a wide range of wireless functions notifications, call handling, and music control made possible by a Bluetooth smartphone connection. But it needs an Android Phone to work even just to keep the time. Moreover it needs to be charged daily. It isn’t compatible with iOS and is hard to read in Sunlight.
I’m Watch
The Italian Smartwatch runs a Custom Version of Android But can connect to both Android and iOS. It alerts you as e-mails, calendar, and social-media updates roll in and has solid build quality. But is difficult to set up and lacks many Apps and has very few watchfaces. It is not Water Resistant and has very short Battery life.
Samsung Galaxy Gear
The Gear is a smartwatch, a wrist-worn touch-screen timepiece that talks to your phone, so you don’t have to be forever fetching your phone from purse or pocket. It sits on your wrist and happily controls your music, tracks your exercise, installs your favourite apps — it even makes phone calls. But at launch it is Only Compatible with the Note 3. The Gear somewhat resembles Windows Phone 8 with its bright and colourful interface. Currently it could have the Best Smartwatch but it is just an accessory for the Note 3.
Conclusion
The idea of wearable tech is gaining rapid popularity. As for the Smartwatches The Pebble and Gear maybe the Better ones but to be honest none of them is currently that good. So it comes down to the question Why buy a Smartwatch at all? Perhaps it is better to strap an iPod to your wrist with an accessory band. Manufacturers have started working on Smartwatches so they are likely to get there but for now Smartwatches are in Progress.
